Properties
Phosphorus pentoxide is a white, very deliquescent crystalline solid. It transforms to amorphous form under elevated temperature and pressure. It is easy to absorb moisture from air. It is soluble in water to produce phosphoric acid.
Density: 0.9 g/cm3
Melting Point: 580-585 °C
Sublimation Temperature: 300 °C
Vapor Pressure: 133.3 Pa (384 °C)

Applications
Phosphorus pentoxide is a common material and reagent in the chemical industry. It is widely used in the pharmaceutical industry, coating additives, printing and dyeing additives, anti static additives, titanate coupling agents, and phosphorus oxychloride, etc..
Its main application is for producing high purity phosphoric acid and organophosphate. It is also used as a desiccant of gas and liquid, and a dehydrating agent of organic synthesis.

Packaging
20 kg in woven bag
25 kg in cardboard drum
60 kg in iron drum (60L)
70 kg in iron drum (75L)
130 kg in iron drum (200L)
200 kg in iron drum (200L)

Storage
Keep in a tightly closed container to avoid moisture, store in a cool, dry, and well-ventilated area. Keep away from incompatible substances, water, metals, alkali and flammable substances.

Output
10,000 tons per year

Hazards Identification
Phosphorus pentoxide is non-flammable. It reacts violently with water and organic substances like wood, cotton, and grass, releases much heat and may even cause fire. It is corrosive to most of metals when contact with moisture. It may cause severe burns to eye, skin, mucosa and respiratory tract. It is very irritating even at concentration as low as 1mg/cm3.

Fire Fighting Measures
Wear full protective gear. Do NOT use water directly on fire. Use dry chemical, carbon dioxide, or alcohol-resistant foam.

First Aid Measures
Inhalation: Remove from exposure and move to an area with fresh air immediately. Get medical aid.
Eye: Flush eyes with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes. Get medical aid.
Skin: Flush skin with plenty of water. Get medical aid.

Accidental Release Measures
Wear full protective gear. Neutralize the spilled material with a mixed solution of sodium bicarbonate and calcium hydroxide.
